Set on 24 acres, The Grand Del Mar Resort and Spa in North San Diego County, is composed of 249 rooms, a 21,000-square-foot spa, and 30,000-square feet of meeting room space, and is surrounded by an 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course. The hotel is approached through a long-winding road, gatehouse, and estate-style monuments. The landscape blends with the surrounding golf course, and features extensive mature plantings that highlight it’s expansive presence. Site features include four resort-style swimming pools surrounded by stone paving, three exterior spas with luxurious seating and lounge arrangements, cabanas at each pool location, and outdoor food service. In addition, the resort features two pro-style tennis courts adjacent to a tennis pavilion set before a 3,000-square-foot croquet lawn and 20,000 square feet of outdoor private function space. A series of unique fountains – monumental, intimate, and decorative – punctuate the landscape, along with a collection of museum-scale bronze statuary pieces, each carefully selected for it’s particular location.
KTUA was also responsible for implementing the newly completed Grand Del Mar Golf Course Clubhouse. The 50,000 square foot Clubhouse also includes dining and terraces for Addison, The Grad Del Mar’s award-winning restaurant.
A series of 4,500-5,000 square foot villas will be included as a part of the hotel and clubhouse development. Each villa landscape has been custom designed, and includes a spa, full-service barbecue, outdoor dining and seating areas, and fireplaces.
