Ashlie Zinn joins KTUA as Planner specializing in data visualization, environmental communication, and holistic land management. She earned her Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (2023), working as a GIS Analyst Research Assistant with the Economics Department before returning to San Diego as a Management Intern with the City’s Parks & Recreation Department. She integrates design, data, and collaboration to highlight the significance of our relationship with local resources—passionately focusing on blue-green networks, biodiversity, and dark skies.
Proficient in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe CC, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and SketchUp, as well as skilled in horticulture, graphic design, cartography, analysis and planning, and landscape design; Ashlie applies her expertise to sustainability initiatives through ASLA’s San Diego Climate Action Committee and watershed restoration with Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy. She also continues her support of Parks & Recreation as a Community Garden Liaison.
With 15 years in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry, Ashlie remains deeply committed to serving community well-being. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring and celebrating San Diego’s diverse landscapes—hiking, dancing, gardening, and contributing to community murals—all in pursuit of making surroundings as vibrant as possible.
