Ashim Chhetri recently joined KTUA as a Landscape Irrigation Designer. He obtained a Bachelor in Agricultural Science and a Master in Soil Science from Banaras Hindu University, India. He holds a Master of Science with an Irrigation Specialization from BioResource and Agricultural Engineering (BRAE), Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, 2022. During his study at Cal Poly, he worked at Irrigation Training and Research Center (ITRC) where he was introduced to numerous irrigation projects. He did Irrigation Evaluation (Drip and Sprinkler) in various farm fields in the Central Valley of California. He also assisted his Professor in the San Joaquin Valley Project for Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) where he got involved with various water agencies of that region. He is a Certified Agricultural Irrigation Specialist (CAIS) from Irrigation Association. He is really interested in working towards water saving and management especially in California where water scarcity is a huge challenge. At KTUA, Ashim will implement his irrigation knowledge in designing Smart and Sustainable Landscape Irrigation System. His skills include AutoCAD, Land F/X, GIS, and Microsoft Office. Brooke Whalen, principal landscape architect says, “KTUA is very excited to welcome Ashim to our team. With his unique background in agricultural irrigation and soil science, he has a deep passion for conserving water and understands we all need to do our part to preserve this precious resource. We have observed his desire and enthusiasm to learn about ornamental landscape irrigation and know he will be an amazing asset to our irrigation department.” Ashim plays league soccer during weekend and enjoys swimming, and hiking.
