Kids turn recycled over-sized paper into hand-made maps

Have you ever wondered what to do with those scraps of leftover plotter paper? KTUA donated their extra oversized plotter paper to kids at the El Cajon Library cartography program. The children were given examples of real (atlases) and fictional maps (Candyland, Marauders’ Map, Narnia, Neverland, Camp Half-Blood), paper and art supplies to create a map of their own. Some of the kids made maps from their house to the library, and others made really elaborate maps of lands where you had to navigate increasing levels of difficulty. Miko Osada, Youth Services Librarian was in charge of the creative map making program.
